a gold star mothers day

This is an experience I had, and I thought I should share it.

This past week I came upon a song. When I heard it for the first time I decided to learn it, then sing it to my family sometime.
Finally on Sunday night, at my grandma’s house I asked if I could sing them a song. Now usually I will sing musicals, with my siblings, or by myself, just for fun, But tonight I was going to surprise them. I starting singing:

“it usually sits on the desk by the vase, but she holds it close to her chest.
Memories taking her back to a place where her little boy grew up to fast.
Pushing his race car right down the hall,
Dressed in his uniform playing baseball,
Holding and kissing him after a fall
Where has her little boy gone?

She’s so proud of her son, Such a good little boy.
How he loved his mom and filled her heart with joy.
Courageous and kind and so brave and so true.
Never embarrassed to say ‘I love you.’
So proud of her son, and his love that he gave,
So proud on mothers day.”

strangely, I could feel my voice start to shake. I realized what was starting to happen. But I controlled my voice as I continued;

“it usually sits on the desk by the vase, but she holds it close as she dreams.
Memories taking her back to a place where her little boy turned seventeen.
Telling them jokes, and they laughed every time.
Fixing up cars and making them shin.
A handsome young man with a smile so divine.
Where has her little boy gone?

she’s so proud of her son, Such a fine young man.
How he loved his mom, her number one fan.
Courageous and kind and so brave and so true.
Never embarrassed to say ‘I love you.’
So proud of her son, and his love that he gave,
So proud on mothers day.”

By the time I passed the bridge, and was starting into the third verse, I couldn’t hold it in any more. Never had those words that I was about to say, ever struck me so hard.
I felt the tears start to roll down my checks. I couldn’t continue. I took a pause. I know this surprised my parents. They hardly ever see me cry. I hardly ever do cry. I noticed my grandma’s tears also running down her face as well. When I finally took a breath, I continued on threw the tears that where still rolling down my face;

“ she’s so proud of her song, the brave strong Marine
A hero who laid down his life just for me.
Courageous and kind, and so brave, and so true,
Never embarrassed to say ‘I love you’
So proud of her son,
And his life that he gave
On a gold star mother’s day.

It usually sits on the desk by the vase, a mothers day gift in a frame.
A picture of him with a smudge on his face,
as she quietly whispers his name.”

This song has really taught me how much I have to be grateful for. That every day we have soldiers that defend our country, our liberty, and our life’s.. now I know that I have a deeper understanding and thanks for them. Tonight when I pray to my heavenly father, I will be sure to say

“Please bless our soldiers.”

HSM3

k, so this last wednesday, i was an extra in HSM 3 A.K.A. high school musical!
yay, right? so all i did from 11:00 till 4:45 was sit... and sit, and sit! boring!

any way. so latter that night (@ about 9:00) i got to go watch them film lucas grabeel (the love of my life.) so yeah i watched him for about 4 hours. it was amazing! then at about 12:00 i was sitting in my seat. i took a fast look behind me. and there was this pretty cute guy. i thought "he's kinda cute," then it dawned on me. "THATS ZAC EFRON!" i swooshed my head back to look at him while he was drinking a water bottle. and i guess he thought that was pretty funny cause his water almost went through his nose. then he came and walked up to me, laughing, and sat next to me. i was like "uh..." so he asked me my name, and asked if i was an extra, and all that jazz. he seemed pretty friendly. then some called his name, and he said "well i'll catch ya latter" and gave me a high five, then walked away. then about ten minutes latter i was walking out the door cause my mom was almost there. he was by the door talking to some people, i was about to walk past him, when he said "hey you!" so i walked up to him. "you made me laugh. that made my day... or night. are you leaving?" i said yeah and he said "do i get a hug?" i was like "uh yeah!" then he said bye, and i waljed out the door and was like "I JUST HUGGED ZAC EFRON!!" any way thats my story.
